Personal Learning Environment, Assignment/week 2

Doing research on personal learning environments helped me to better my own, and learn a lot more about how to become more educated, and that was something I was thankful for. The concept is new, and the concept is good. There have been disagreements in the way of the future of education that the personal learning environments bring to the table. I found I can locate things that I have been interested in learning of more centrally now, in a direct location. With the use of content aggregators and blogging , education is held without limitation. I believe, PLE’s are not only the future, but also a way to improve the education we need to evolve ideas for man kind, and I fail to comply with disagreement of these ideas. The more the tools are used, the more effective they come and seem to hold great potential for those who choose to take advantage. It is suggested that both the teachers and learners are becoming more powerful with the use of blogs and news aggregators as a selective personal learning environment.

As the visual learner I am, new web 2.0 tools that have allowed me to further educate myself have improved my foundation as a person. The development of the latest internet tools lets me drive the wheel of what I want to know and makes it easier for to get to where I want to go. The future of technologies we share today has lessened the industrial world, but who needs a teacher when you can willingly locate what your looking for within minimal number of mouse clicks?

Although, I prefer the forum for a more structured educational society, both playing fields hold great potential and carry effective authentic communication that helps me to learn more sufficient. Blogging technologies that are made available to individuals help to better represent themselves as the person they are, by using what is known as either “RDF Site Summary”, or “Really simple syndication, RSS. Subscriptions can be done on various websites through an application that is such of like an email account known formerly as a web aggregator but is commonly known as “river of news”. Aggregators allow a user to exercise their minds within a central location, to store the education they are selectively looking to research. Since the beginning of my research I have started accounts on many different site aggregators to try to get a feel of my preferred style of site and which ones are more beneficial for my own educational purposes. The past week has allowed me to learn things that I’ve wanted to know for some time, the variations of the educational purpose I wanted to research had been centrally stored with my customization. Since the assignment, I have 4 aggregators I use as home pages on my personal PC and enjoy clicking to learn even if the education is random. This holds a great value for my education and I’m glad I’ve been introduced to these tools. Although I have put the more standard blog to use, and used Igoogle previously, since the assignment my purpose and education has broadened greatly.

With the use of social bookmarking I have stored blogs and information to different aspects of what I’m looking to educate myself upon. Although I did not have the chance to search what my classmates had been researching on the given assignment, I still used delicious as a tool to help me search for the various blogs I neede in order to educate myself within the subject of matter, and foud that the tool was rather useful and had an bigger advantage, and a wider range of information that I could put to use than I had ever found on common search engines such as “google”.

I used a large amount of sites to research and found lots of useful information due to the tools I have been introduced to, I also found within a classmates post several links I found informative. The first I have linked below was a great introducion and inspiration to create my own.

What is web 2.0? Week 1 Assignment

After researching I have found the term “web 2.0” to be un-definitive, and I am unsure whether I will ever know enough to explain in practical terms exactly what web 2.0 is. Although, I myself cannot quote an exact definition to the term, I came to realization that I’m surrounded by web 2.0 nearly every time I’m in front of a computer. Within us our expectations of the web are to make it more practical than ever, the term developed by a few individuals still has no concrete definition due to its continually evolving growth that takes place with ideas, recommendations, and collective grouping. The world is as wide as we want to make it and there is no official leadership, we are web 2.0. Below are only a few of the links I used to better my understanding of this world that I am coming familiar with. These links include articles that helped my understanding of the way the world works, unfortunately as willing as I am to educate myself throughout the subject it seems I’ll never know enough. I’m intrigued by the fact that I’ll never know how much there is to know. I enjoyed posting this blog and believe it is a great opportunity to learn quickly, and I‘d like to thank you all for bearing wisdom to better my knowledge and understanding on what the subject is and where it is heading.

To me web 2.0 means more than a handful of things in particular, the subject itself cannot be pin pointed. Web 2.0 ,to me, is the is the evolution of the web and an understanding of a more practical database platform that allows users to work with tools more efficiently for a large part of the web community. Web 2.0 is a place that never comes in acquaintance with limitation and carries a solar like system that is constantly undergoing an invigorating change. Much of the developing world of web 2.0 is a community made of a group of intelligence that interact socially to broaden the world as we know. Web 2.0 has developed the web for a wide network of users, from individuals looking to network sociably to helping business’s control key data. Web 2.0 is the thought that the evolving web is to be laid out more clearly as apposed to a flat closed like platform that gives its users an advantage that applies when in use. Web 2.0 carries and underlying theme that holds tools and the technology needed to enable success for much of the practical world today.
